ORamaVR is a medical XR company headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. We build the platform that makes high-fidelity medical simulation training possible at scale — for device companies, simulation centers, and hospitals worldwide.
The founding story
ORamaVR was founded by researchers who had spent decades building the underlying science — computer graphics, XR algorithms, clinical education — and saw that the technology was finally ready to make a real difference in how medicine is taught.

Dr. George Papagiannakis, CEO & Co-founderThe founding team brought together computer science (University of Crete, ICS-FORTH, University of Geneva), orthopaedic surgery (Aristotle University, Imperial College London), and robotics research — with the explicit goal of building a 30-year company around the problem of medical training at scale.
Today the MAGES platform is in use at 30+ institutions across 10 countries, backed by 65+ peer-reviewed publications and a clear product-market fit. We are now scaling to meet demand.
Company milestones
Funding round from leading European deep-tech & strategic VCs to lead the Computational Medical XR category. MAGES OMEN and global expansion underway.
First med-tech, IVD and surgical robotic training deployments at Zimmer Biomet, Roche and Sofmedica/Isle-Academy.
JARIA released, addressing the core proctor bottleneck in simulation training at scale. Invitation to participate in the nVidia Inception programme.
Open Medical Educational Neural mEtaverse — selected amongst the top 50 Swiss deep-tech startups by Innosuisse.
Awarded by the European Innovation Council for the MAGES platform and ORamaVR business plan.
MAGES platform deployed at Inselspital Bern and Geneva University Hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic.
ORamaVR established with co-founders from University of Crete, ICS-FORTH, and orthopaedic surgery.

International executive with 20+ years in sales, business development, and corporate strategy. Previously in leadership roles at SunGard and StatPro. Deep expertise in XR technology commercialisation.

20+ years of experience in Med-tech, with a strong track record in business development and sales. Previously held senior roles at Mentice and Surgical Science, two of the leading companies in surgical simulation.

College of Europe Alumni (Bruges, Promotion Leonardo Da Vinci), LLM in European Law. Member of the Bar of Thessaloniki since 2000. Specialises in Corporate Law, Commercial Contracts, and Technology Transfer Agreements, with extensive experience advising healthcare businesses, start-ups, and spin-offs.

MSc in Computer Science with specialization in XR. Senior Director of Product Management with 5+ years leading XR product development in medical simulation.

MA in Conflict, Security and Development (King's College London) and BA in Political Science (Aristotle University). Brings a background in exports, administration, and a passion for human development to ORamaVR.
